Dear Families,
Thank-you for visiting our kindergarten website. I want to take the time to introduce myself. I am very excited about working in partnership with you to teach your child this year. This is my fifth year working at Culver school and I feel very lucky to be part of such a wonderful community. Throughout my time at Culver, I have learned how important kindergarten is as it sets the foundation for future years of learning. I am so happy to be back in the kindergarten classroom. I graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I also have endorsements in language arts, social science, and middle school. Throughout my time at Culver, I have taught 7th and 8th grade American History, as well as kindergarten. Many Culver families may know me as Miss. Barry. I had a very eventful and exciting summer as I finished planning my wedding and was married on July 18th. My husband, Jason, is a teacher as well. He works in Schaumburg, District 54 as a kindergarten-6th grade PE teacher. It may take me a little bit to get used to; however I am now known throughout the building as Mrs. Mennella. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my friends, family and dog, Gia. I also enjoy exercising, and reading to relax. I believe parents and teachers should work together. We are all here for the success of your child! I strongly encourage keeping communication open through phone, email, meetings or written notes. Therefore, if you have any questions, ideas, or concerns, or would like to volunteer in the classroom, please let me know. You may reach me at (847) 966-9280 ex. 1139. I will respond to all emails and voicemails in a timely manner. You may also email me at [email protected]. Throughout the year, be sure to check your child’s backpack for important papers. The kindergarten teachers will send newsletters through e-mail to keep you informed about what is happening in our classrooms. You can also view this website, under "Parent Newsletters" to look back at a previous letter. Again, I am looking forward to watching your child learn and grow this year. With your support, we will have an exciting and memorable year! Sincerely, Mrs. Mennella |
